Dear Friends,
A quick reminder that I’m now offering two ways to access my Messages.
The first – as before – is the printed word (included below).
The second is as a short video (today’s runs 6 minutes).
To access the video just click on https://youtu.be/Injf4ag472I and I’ll share my truths in person with you.
A famous hymn carries the refrain:
“Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your blessings, see what God hath done;
Count your blessings, name them one by one;
Count your many blessings, see what God hath done”.
These times are fraught with concern and worry for many people.
Wars, the economy, interest rates, housing availability, jobs, wages and pensions, power and fuel bills, home invasions, car hijacks – there seems to be so many issues confronting everyone these days….
How to handle the traumas and troubles of life?
One important answer is to focus on one’s blessings.
That’s because life isn’t all negative!
There’s far more to be positive about – if we remember to be positive!
Mahatma Gandhi once said:
“A man is but a product of his thoughts. What he thinks he becomes.”
Since I first heard this, I have almost always replied to the courteous greeting “How are you?” with “Excellent thankyou! But getting better!”.
And, true to form, I have continued to generally be in excellent health.
I can equally attest that a friend, when asked how he is, always replies with “Not good” and, true to form, his life isn’t the best……
The Power of the Positive easily outweighs the negative – but only if we let it, allow it, emphasise and encourage it!
And we best encourage it by counting our every blessing every day.
Three easy ways to embrace you blessings include:
1. Having a competition with your partner/house-mate to see who can list the most (new) blessings each morning…..
2. Journalling one new blessing every day for six months……
3. Listing 33 blessings on a coloured board you hang in your bathroom and reading it out loud/with feeling every morning and evening.
Then, after 33 days, you create a new list…….and repeat the exercise.
I REMEMBER hearing Norman Vincent Peale, famous author of “The Power Of Positive Thinking” speaking to his New York church congregation and telling them “if you don’t have at least six doozy problems right now, leave this service immediately! Go straight home, go into your room, close the door, kneel by your bed, join your two hands together and ask the Lord “What’s wrong, Lord? Don’t you trust me anymore…..?”.
Norman was certain that a positive attitude, regardless of the situation, was the answer. He felt that if we trusted the Divine we would make the very most of every precious, priceless moment we are given.
We simply wouldn’t have time to be negative.
We’d be too busy appreciating our bountiful blessings…..
My final quote (by Charles Swindoll) sums the matter up perfectly:
“Life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.”
How you react and respond to life is entirely up to you…..
So, how does your own speech reflect your positive thoughts?
How do your actions mirror your positive approach to life?
How do your positive thoughts enhance your life?
What limits you having more positive thoughts?
What could you achieve if you had only positive thoughts?
So remember:
Count your many blessings, see what God hath done”.
Bountiful Blessings!
Peace Be Within You!
Les
